How to do Esalen Massage
I’m sure many of you including me are not much familiar with this sensual kind of massage. Esalen which is a classic therapeutic kind of massage developed in the 1960’s era at Esalen Institute of California Coast. How does this work and how sensual does Esalen massage is?
Esalen Massage focuses more on deep details of the muscle tissues of the body. It aims to stabilize the right stretch, energy and mobilize the joints and even melts the muscle tension to achieve a perfect flow of harmony in the body. Esalen practitioners usually perform a slow rhythm of massage following a tai chi kind of approach. This kind of massage was also inspired by the rhythmic and sweeping movement of the waves of the sea that is why it is somehow sensual.
Only licensed esalen therapists are allowed to do the massage but if you’re just at home and wanted to try this to your loved one, I guess you can do the basic techniques of it. (Just be cautious and careful folks!) First, the person needs to lay down facing the pillow (or you can do it without the pillow!) you can also lay the person either in a comfortable mattress or just on the bed (not too soft). Usually, the person needs to be nude when performing Esalen massage but if they don’t want to, they can cover up those areas that they don’t want to be exposed. For warm up, slowly touch and gently massage the back of the person with your two hands to build a connection with him/her. Then apply some essential oil on your hands and rub it (you can choose your own type of oil), gently stroke every part of the body using your palm, knuckles, thumbs and fingertips on different directed movements.
Contact is the most essential pillar of Esalen Massage that’s why you need to establish that certain type of connection with the person you are giving it. The personal touch helps you to get into deep communication with that person and that is I guess a wonderful bonding with your partner.
Scalp Massage at its finest
Have you ever experienced trying scalp massage? Well, for those of you who haven’t yet wanting to give your scalp a healthy and beneficial treatment, this is the right time for you to give it at least try weather on a spa or just at home.
What is scalp massage? What are its benefits on our body and who needs it the most? This type of massage is a therapeutic form of a relaxing treatment benefiting our head especially providing relief from stress, headaches, migraines or any sinus conditions. Though no strong evidence has been proven yet, some researches, says that scalp massage helps promote hair growth and prevents or stops hair loss. Since one of the causes of thinning hair, hair fall or hair loss is probably be stress related, it was concluded that it could possibly treat or lessen the hair problem.
Personally, I’ve tried having scalp massage once. Three months ago, I’ve noticed that my hair was starting to get thinner due to severe hair fall. As I’ve done lots of research about how to solve my hair problem, I ended up trying to have a scalp treatment which was of course, having scalp massage. The session was so invigorating, relaxing and soothing. I almost fell asleep during the treatment but yeah, it was terrific. As what the therapist told me, massaging your scalp increases blood flow and gives good circulation to the hair follicles that may help promote strong hair strands for hair growth, thick and a well nourished hair.
Experience knee pain walking down stairs?
(There’s no harm in trying!)
Everyone can try scalp massage even at home. Applying essential oils on our scalp is one of the most important things to consider. Choosing the right aroma and the perfect kind depends on your own preference. You can try mixing oils too like eucalyptus and coconut oil for example. Some research says that it helps promote new growth for the hair. You can also use jojoba due to its non-greasy kind and castor oil for its natural essence that promotes hair re-growth as well.
Love your scalp before it’s too late folks!
Foot Reflexology vs Foot Spa
Although we’ve already tackled things and stuffs about foot massage basics and its therapeutic benefits to us on our previous posts, we’ve come up to another topic that will surely make you think which is which. Foot Reflexology vs Foot Spa? How can we differentiate these two and can we personally practice this at home? What type of foot massage do we need? Let’s do the basic first fellas.
We all know that foot reflexology is an alternative medicine method that of course, includes applying pressure to our feet with the help of the thumbs, fingers and the entire palm of the hands. Each point on our feet corresponds to a specific and particular part of the body. So mainly, the purpose of foot reflexology is to heal and help improve whatever illness a person has inside the whole body. The basic reflexology areas includes head and neck which are connected to the toes including toe bones and joints, the Spine is said to be connected to in-between of the toe fingers and the ball of the foot, Chest area which is connected under the toes, Waist Line which is in the center part of the foot (the thin, waist-kinda part of it.. come on, try to look at it folks! :) , and the pelvic area which is connected in the bottom of our feet. Before performing this kind of massage to a person, first thing to consider is to ask and consult his/her doctor if they are allowed to have reflexology for this could increase the blood circulation of the body. Foot reflexology could be done by anyone with proper knowledge on how to practice it.

On the other hand, I may not be explaining much about foot Spa because I think I’ve written a whole bunch of things about this kind of massage before but okay, I’ll discuss the difference of this from foot reflexology. (Since that’s the title of the post ha!) So, Foot Spa quite differs much from foot reflexology because this kind of foot relaxation focuses on beautifying, pampering and reviving the tired feet of ours. Though, it could also benefit soothing and relaxing condition of the feet, Foot Spa cleans, smoothens and exfoliates dirty skin cells by applying sea salt and any kind of pepper mint cream to the feet. It also involves a bit of foot massaging after putting moisturizing lotion to it for a more soft and smooth feeling.
Foot Spa and Foot Reflexology is way different from each other. The meaning, the procedure and the effects are incomparable. We may sometimes be confused on what to try but it’s always safe to know
first what is really important to us before doing anything on our body.
